This is going to hurt - by Adam Kay
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not only did it bring back memories of my time on the wards of our wonderful NHS hospitals, but it reminded me of just how resilient and determined junior doctors have to be, in order to give the best possible care, despite the incredible expectations placed on them.
This is going to hurt was heartwarming, funny and at times shocking. I laughed at loud at some of the stories Adam recalled. At others, it brought a lump to my throat. ,
This is a book you will not want to put down. It’s a real page-turner into the insight, of just what it’s like to work hours, after hours, after hours, on our busy NHS wards.
Adam Kay takes you through all the highs and lows of his daily life as a junior doctor. You finish the book, with nothing but admiration for our junior doctors and a true recognition that even in the most awful circumstances and pain, laughter is never far away.
I Highly recommended this book. Get the tissues ready though, as you will cry as well as laugh.
